Contemporary literature posits that knowledge workers differ significantly from other employees by their structure of motives. However, there are too few empirical studies to support this idea. This paper presents results of an empirical study aimed to discover what motives are most important for this group of employees and if their structure of motives significantly differs from traditional workforce. Results of this research allow to formulate some recommendations on how to improve management of knowledge workers.
